On February 23, 2014, Japan and International Motion Picture Copyright Association (JIMCA), Saitama Prefectural Police Cyber Crime Division, and Omiya Police Station co-hosted a “Cybercrime Eradication Campaign” at Stellar Town in Saitama-City, Saitama Prefecture, to raise general public awareness of “Cybercrime”and “Copyright Protection”.

Last year, the Saitama Prefectural Police Cyber Crime Division, and the Omiya Police Station successively arrested five illegal uploaders of FC2 Video website due to JIMCA’s requests.

Along with Mr. Kondo, Cyber Crime Division Chief of Saitama Prefectural Police; Mr. Ueno, Community Safety Division Deputy Chief of Omiya Police Station; and Mr. Ajimura, Representative Director of JIMCA, the pop music idol group “Pinkish”from Saitama Prefecture actively participated in the campaign as “Cybercrime Eradication Support Unit”. The campaign also showcased a series of live events performed by the Musical Band and the Color Guard Unit of Saitama Prefectural Police, and Pinkish.

Mr. Kondo, Cyber Crime Division Chief of Saitama Prefectural Police, said, “We were able to host a most significant event with the cooperation of JIMCA. Not only do the police conduct crackdowns but also pour our efforts into such an educational activity as this time. In order to provide a safe and secure living environment for the general public, we will carry on making efforts in both areas of crackdowns and educational activities.”

JIMCA will continue to work in collaboration with the police and be dedicated to eradicating copyright infringement acts.
